Tribulus terrestris is a medicinal plant traditionally used for the treatment of urinary tract disorders. The present study was conducted to evaluate the biological efficacy such as diuretic and anti-urolithiatic effects of the ethanolic extract of Tribulus terrestris fruit using standard experimental models. The diuretic activity was assessed in albino rats by measuring the urine volume and electrolyte excretion following the oral administration of fruit extract at doses 200 and 400 mg/kg and the results obtained were compared with standard drug standard drug Furosemide 5 mg/kg body weight. The anti urolithiatic activity was assessed using ethylene glycol induced urolithiasis model. The parameters like urinary volume, calcium oxalate, phosphorous, creatinine, and uric acid levels were analyzed. The histopathological examination of kidney was performed to assess the crystal deposition and tissue architecture.
